An historical transformation

Three former water purification silos on Zeeburgereiland in Amsterdam have been given a second life. The silos offer a complete range of urban facilities from hotel to film house, from grand café and high-end offices to a dance school.

After the acquisition of the Pier of Scheveningen by Kondor Wessels Amsterdam, Elephant has been involved in the long-term architecture and urban design planning and vision development for this Dutch icon. More information coming soon.

From warehouse to office

Elephant transformed a former warehouse into an ideal office environment on the Nieuwevaart, opposite the Maritime Museum in the historic centre of Amsterdam.

KEIZER MARINE

A building that keeps on growing

In collaboration with ARUP, Elephant designed a modular construction system that facilitates the development, working method, and business philosophy of Keizer Marine Engineering.

Planning. Elephant is working on a wide variety of urban planning assignments and area developments. From the master plan for the new Pier of Scheveningen to the inner-city extention of the Stopera - City Hall in Amsterdam.

MUNT

Area development Paasheuvelweg, Amsterdam

On behalf of Caransa Group, Elephant has developed the master plan for Amstel III in Amsterdam, with a mixed use of 45% housing, 45% offices and 10% plinth facilities. The plan is based on the urban development vision and preconditions of the municipality of Amsterdam. Completion is foreseen for mid 2024. More information coming soon.

CADENZA

Area development Cadenza, Zoetermeer

Commissioned by Wibaut, 1828 Group and J.P. van Eesteren, Elephant realized the design for the Cadenza 2 tender in Zoetermeer. The building consists of a social plinth, 100 youth homes and 125 apartments. The plan got rewarded with the maximum score for urban design, architecture and flexibility.

Innovation. From a hardware to a software driven building industry: information technology is gradually tearing apart the 20th-century collusion of space and function. It sets the stage for freedom of use and space. Elephant buildings are designed for change and therefor yield a higher use and sustainable investment value.

Affordable green engineering

Green is beautiful, relieves stress, has a cooling effect and absorbs fine particulates. The integral design of vegetation in our architecture starts with space reservation, weight, construction, irrigation system and accessibility for the landscape gardener. All elements are included in the process: aerial platforms or window cleaning installations are no longer necessary. The end result is always a long-term maintenance contract with a landscape gardener, based on a clearly specified maintenance costs as well as efficient management.

Bespoke Facades

Future residents, tenants or investors have their own voice in the quality of living, without influencing the developer's business case. An extra window, a larger balcony, a wider sliding door? The buyer options are included in the building permit, approved by the building contractor and discounted in advance by the contractor. We call this Bespoke Facades, with all the buyers’ options included in our parametric model.

Building performances. Our projects address the shift from conventional buildings towards habitats, where comfort, climate conditions and environmental performance define the business case and market value. We create dynamic, fluid and ever-changing buildings that are not threatened, but shaped by the future.
